Love isn't all romance, hearts and flowers, as imagined when young.
It's about caring for someone so deeply that whatever ails them, scars you twice as deeply.
It's about still seeing the vital person you first loved, in spite of the aging process
And despite the fog of dementia.
It means always striving to bring little moments of happiness into their lives,
no matter how small.
It's about always being in thier corner, no matter what life throws at you.
It means they are ALWAYS the first thing you think about in the morning, all the way through to last thing at night…
.. even when dementia appears to have rendered them AWOL.
It's about the small things, trimming nails, home-baked treats, a stroke of the hair
And quietly holding hands when words fail
It's about bearing the unbearable alongside them, no matter how hard it is.
Aged love, may not always be pretty but it is constant and immovable.
